Recreation

Cultural and recreational amenities are as close as downtown Griffin. Enjoy performances of the Camelot Theatre Company, the Griffin Ballet Theatre or international guest artists brought to town by the Griffin Area Community Concert Association; they perform in the restored, 1,000-seat Griffin Auditorium, replete with state-of-the-art technology.

Take the family out to Airport Road Park and experience a half-mile walking trail constructed entirely of about 7,000 recycled tires; while there, take advantage of the playground and enjoy nature at its best. Local Olympic Gold Medallist (track) Wyomia Tyus was honored recently by having a park named for her, in which a soccer complex, baseball complex, walking track, playground and a lake are available.

In addition to plenty of sports activities for the young people, Griffin and Spalding County residents take advantage of several public and private golf courses and country clubs. Dining is a pleasure at several local restaurants or at nearly 80 other eateries. Within 18 miles of High Falls State Park, a short drive from Atlanta Motor Speedway, Phillips Arena and a host of other attractions, you’ll never be bored in Griffin!
