Healthcare
High
quality healthcare gives our residents and business community a
level of confidence that is priceless. Spalding Regional Hospital,
with 160 beds, offers treatment in 20 specialties. Partnering with
over 70 physicians, the medical facility is staffed by more than 750
people and boasts five operating suites and a cystoscopy room with
state-of-the-art surgical and anesthesia equipment.
In response to the community’s growing need for ambulatory services,
Spalding Regional opened a state-of- the-art
Outpatient
Services
Center
in September 1995 after two years of planning.
The $3 million, 26,650 square foot wing houses a magnetic
resonance imaging unit (MRI), a non-invasive procedure that can
image the body and an ambulatory services unit used for specialized
medical treatment such as blood transfusions and chemotherapy,
outpatient surgeries and endoscopy.
Outpatient cataract surgery, sinus surgery, laparoscopic
gallbladder, knee arthroscopy, laparoscopic tubal ligation,
diagnostic laparoscopy and hernia repairs are just a few of the
procedures offered.
There were 90,000 outpatient procedures during 2009.
Off-campus facilities include Spalding Regional EMS and
Spalding Regional Women’s Center.
Several home care organizations operate in Griffin, as well as a
number of private practices offering a wide range of services,
including X-Ray, lab work and minor surgery. The Family Medical
Center and First Care Clinic specialize in total family health care.
