Quick Start
Griffin Technical College administers the area
Quick Start program -
Georgia’s assistance for new industries and training for their
employees. Under the program, the State pays for screening, hiring
and training of workers using curricula developed jointly by Quick
Start specialists and the new or expanding industry. Quick Start
will provide staff members to visit your company and prepare a
training program for your new plant in Spalding County. Together,
your company and our Quick Start staff will get your plant in
production faster in order to give you a “quick start!”
West Central Georgia Workforce Investment Board (WIB)
The
WIB is controlled locally by an area-wide Board of Directors, an On-The-Job training program
(OTJ) is available to Spalding County employers
under the federally funded Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA).
The WIB office sends potential trainees to a local employer who
then selects as many as are needed from those that the employer
feels are qualified. The employer trains the new employee in their
method of operation with the overall goal of retaining him/her as a
productive employee after training is completed. Under the WIB
program (which reimburses the employer as much as 50% of the hourly
rate of the trainee during training), the employer retains the final
hiring and dismissal authority, and the firm’s customary personnel
policies apply during training.
