Intellectual Capital Partnership Program® (ICAPP®)
The centerpiece of the University System of Georgia’s economic development programs is Georgia’s Intellectual Capital Parternship Program. The programs of ICAPP provide one-stop entry to the intellectual capital of the University System of Georgia – its education programs, faculty expertise, research and development facilities. Quick Start
Southern Crescent Technical College administers the area Quick Start program - Georgia’s assistance for new industries and training for their employees. Under the program, the State pays for screening, hiring and training of workers using curricula developed jointly by Quick Start specialists and the new or expanding industry. Quick Start will provide staff members to visit your company and prepare a training program for your new plant in Spalding County. Together, your company and our Quick Start staff will get your plant in production faster in order to give you a “quick start!”

West Central Georgia Workforce Investment Board (WIB)
Controlled locally by an area-wide Board of Directors, an On-The-Job  training program (OTJ) is available to Spalding County employers under the federally funded Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA).

The WIB office sends potential trainees to a local employer who then selects as many as are needed from those that the employer feels are qualified. The employer trains the new employee in their method of operation with the overall goal of retaining him/her as a productive employee after training is completed. Under the WIB program (which reimburses the employer as much as 50% of the hourly rate of the trainee during training), the employer retains the final hiring and dismissal authority, and the firm’s customary personnel policies apply during training.

Georgia Technology Economic Development  Institute (EDI)
Georgia Tech EDI provides a vast range of technical and managerial assistance to small and medium industries. Georgia Tech EDI is a strong asset for Georgia’s continued growth.  They provide an assessment of a company’s efficiency and offer suggestions that will create the highest productivity gains possible. All services are confidential, and most assists are offered at no cost.

Georgia Tech EDI is part of the Georgia Tech South Metro region which includes Clayton, Coweta, Fayette, South Fulton, Henry, Newton, Rockdale and Spalding Counties.

Members of the staff actually live in the area they serve, so any recommendations represent a personal interest along with a professional and thorough performance. Although Georgia Tech’s engineers concentrate most of their efforts on technical assistance to existing industries, the staff in each regional office is familiar with quality systems, manufacturing technology, productivity improvement, training and continuing education, management techniques and economic development.

Vocational-Technical School

The Director of Financial Aid assists students in finding ways to finance their education through the Job Training Partnership Act, Federal Pell Grants, Veteran's benefits, Vocational Rehabilitation, Hope Grant, Hope Scholarship and other loan and scholarship programs.
